Verio's 360° Managed Private Server Helps Businesses Reduce Time and Complexity of Server Management and Maintenance to Focus on Business

Centennial, Colo., December 20, 2006 - Verio Inc., a leading provider of hosting and managed services for small to midsized companies and partners, today announced its 360º Managed Private Server Version 2 (MPS v2), a fully-managed, powerful new hosting solution designed to meet the needs of midsized companies and solution providers with more complex, Web-reliant businesses and sites. The Managed Private Server combines the benefits of a dedicated server solution with features such as proactive security patches, operating system updates and pre-installed applications.

Verio's Managed Private Server solution, based on the FreeBSD operating system, combines server hardware, software and technical support in a fully-managed and dedicated service. Also new to Verio's line of offerings is the MPS Basic, which gives customers a managed solution at a lower price point, making the transition from simpler shared and virtual solutions to dedicated hosting an easier, more financially feasible progression. MPS bundles enterprise-level hardware, a highly secure managed hosting platform, and managed services into one product for added power and performance.

Unlike some providers that add incremental costs for technical support or service assistance, Verio's product includes unlimited support and administrator services. Businesses have indicated a strong preference for this type of upfront and transparent pricing as they assess their choices, and suggest they frequently make decisions based on the quality and caliber of a provider's support team.

Customers most likely to take advantage of Verio's Managed Private Server solutions are frequently those who are heavily Web reliant: their businesses depend on their Web site and infrastructure, which have a major impact on the company's ability to conduct business and generate revenue. These customers often have a core business focus in application development, site design and marketing, ecommerce or online information and transactions. As a business grows, it often also requires a more advanced Web site that can offer customers higher-value functionality. Businesses however don't necessarily increase their own technical expertise, and often depend on a managed services provider for this. The MPS tackles the business community's steadily growing need for more managed technology solutions that solve real business problems.

Customers have already begun to realize the benefits of Verio's MPS. Blarneystone LLC, a Web design and development provider for businesses, required a hosting solution that was both fast and reliable to help meet its clients' expanding needs. "My clients demand the highest level of service and speed, and with Verio's MPS, I have the confidence to promote my premium services and build my business," said Jim Smith, managing director at Blarneystone. "I'm able to demo my Web site portfolio to new customer prospects with full confidence that there will be no slowdowns or service interruptions."

The Managed Private Server suite consists of three packages including Basic, Pro and Pro Plus, all with the following features:

  • Managed triple backup, operating system and core services updates
  • Managed security patches and updates
  • More than 50 optional pre-bundled software packages
  • Control panel for easy configuration and management
  • Enterprise-level system administration support

All Managed Private Servers customers also enjoy full root access to their hosting account, multiple shell accounts for remote access, multiple domain hosting for managing multiple independent sites, enhanced security and the ability to install their own applications. Hosting accounts can be configured with Web, application, email and FTP functionality, and may store large amounts of data for file-sharing.

Verio also announced today its 360° Managed Servers family of hosting solutions, giving customers access to a diverse portfolio of hosting technologies to help them maintain and grow their IT infrastructures. The solutions help businesses eliminate the recurring costs associated with owning their own server and keeping up with hardware and applications that can quickly become outdated.

The 360° Managed Servers family consists of Verio's 360º Managed Private Server and 360º Virtual Private Server product lines on both UNIX and Windows. Verio will be adding Linux-based solutions in January 2007.

"Our new suite of hosting solutions simply frees businesses from the headaches that often go hand-in-hand with server management or maintaining their own hardware," said Kiyoshi Maeda, president and CEO of Verio. "We continue to be a champion for business innovation, and the new MPS product line, along with the entire 360° Managed Servers suite is a result of our company's ongoing improvements to each hosting platform to make life easier for solution providers and our small and midsized business customers."
