American Internet Services (AIS) Expands Maximum Uptime Network Into Newly Acquired Data Center

SAN DIEGO, CA--(Marketwire - March 9, 2009) - American Internet Services (AIS) today announced that it will extend its world class Network into the recently acquired Data Center campus in Kearny Mesa, formerly known as Complex Drive. In doing so, AIS continues on the path of creating market leading Data Center facilities, each boasting key geographic location, while providing the same consistent and dependable network and service uptime for which the company has become renowned.

"The AIS Network is second to none," says company CTO Richard Sears, as he lays out plans for extending the carrier neutral, performance enhanced network into the newest AIS Data Center. Comprised of 8 Tier 1 backbone connections and hundreds of private peering connections, including some of nation's largest communications giants, AIS customers receive unparalleled connectivity from within any of the now three AIS facilities.

Each Data Center is directly connected to a number of Tier 1 broadband providers which enables each facility to operate independently. In addition, a private 10Gbps ring driven by fully redundant, enterprise class Cisco SONET switches connects each facility providing access to additional carriers and even greater redundancy. Once fully integrated, this newest facility which is located in the heart of Kearny Mesa will enjoy the same network capabilities as each of the other Data Centers within the AIS network.

Critical to the network integration project is the installation of 588 strands of dark fiber which will provide fully redundant and diverse physical paths between this new Data Center campus and the nearby AIS headquarters located on Lightwave Avenue. Chris Orlando, former Complex Drive President and newly appointed Director of Strategic Channels at AIS, stated, "For years the AIS name has been synonymous with uptime and reliability. Combine that proven track record with the unique physical attributes offered by this new Data Center campus, and this property is set to be another shining star in the AIS family."

The highly anticipated finale of this project, terminating the fiber ring and installing the new network hardware, is just around the corner. While a specific completion date for having the new facility and network completely integrated has not yet been established, AIS engineering and facilities teams are aiming to have light passing through the new fiber ring by the end of March.
