Go Daddy Dominates Industry Growth in SSL Certificates…Yet Again

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Go Daddy posted more growth as a provider of SSL certificates than any other company so far this year. In fact, according to an April 2009 Netcraft Ltd. report, Go Daddy has been the leader in industry growth for seven consecutive months.

Go Daddy provided consumers with more than 40 percent of the net-new SSL certificates found by Netcraft last month alone. According to the report, Go Daddy added nearly three times the number added by VeriSign in the same time period.

“Go Daddy has had the largest growth of any Certificate Authority for each of the last seven consecutive months,” said Mike Prettejohn, Director of analyst firm Netcraft Ltd. “It has almost 25 percent of the market, achieved entirely through organic growth.”

“The reason for Go Daddy’s SSL success is simple. People aren’t willing to waste money these days,” said Go Daddy CEO and Founder Bob Parsons. “We offer the same high-quality protection for a fraction of what other companies charge. And you can buy one SSL cert from us and use it on multiple servers. You can’t get that at VeriSign.”

A Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) Certificate enables a browser and server to establish a secure, encrypted connection for online transactions and communications. GoDaddy.com SSL Certificates are offered in three assurance validation levels: Standard, Deluxe and Premium Extended Validation SSL.

All Go Daddy certificates include an unlimited server license, meaning one Certificate can be used on multiple servers, potentially saving companies thousands of dollars above and beyond the base price.
