MIAMI--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Terremark Worldwide, Inc. (NASDAQ:TMRK), a leading global provider of managed IT infrastructure services, today announced the expansion of carrier connectivity at its NAP of the Capital Region (NCR) with the addition of nine carrier networks. The completed construction of FiberLight’s optical network into Terremark’s NCR campus allows the Company to offer access to a total of 15 leading carrier networks, with the potential to attract various additional networks in the near future.
Access to this additional connectivity enhances the compelling value proposition Terremark offers customers through its ability to provide its full suite of industry-leading IT infrastructure solutions from one of the most secure and technologically sophisticated datacenter campuses in the United States. The NAP of the Capital Region’s robust infrastructure, along with access to massive carrier connectivity, supplies Terremark with the strong foundation to provide Federal government agencies and enterprises a unique set of solutions for their mission-critical applications.
“The completion of our optical network into Terremark’s NAP of the Capital Region represents a significant, mutually beneficial step for both companies,” said Michael P. Miller, CEO and Founder of FiberLight. “Connecting the NCR to Northern Virginia, allows us to extend our footprint while providing Terremark’s customers the benefits of FiberLight’s robust core metro network and our 24/7 network monitoring capabilities to proactively address any issues.”
Strategically located 60 miles from Washington, D.C. in Culpeper, VA, Terremark’s NAP of the Capital Region opened in June 2008 with the completion of the first 50,000-square-foot datacenter on a 30-acre campus designed to accommodate up to five independent datacenter buildings that exceed Federal standards for a data communications and hosting facility. Terremark launched construction in January of a second datacenter that also meets the needs of today’s power, space and bandwidth-intensive mission-critical applications or hot/warm sites for disaster recovery/COOP environments.
“The NAP of the Capital Region has experienced outstanding success, and we believe the additional connectivity offered at the facility will generate increased interest in the full suite of services Terremark offers there,” said Manuel D. Medina, Terremark’s Chairman and CEO. “Our proven ability to consistently attract customers to our global footprint of highly connected datacenters was a key factor in FiberLight’s decision to build its network in the NCR, and we are excited to continue our strong relationship with this important partner.”
