NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--NTT America, a wholly owned U.S. subsidiary of NTT Communications Corporation, today announced that its Ashburn Data Center, located in Northern Virginia, has earned a LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Gold Certification from the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC). LEED is a green building rating system developed by the USGBC and is a nationally recognized benchmark for the design, construction and operation of high performance green buildings. The LEED system awards points for satisfying specified green criteria to address human and environmental health, including: Sustainable Sites, Water Efficiency, Energy and Atmosphere, Materials and Resources, Indoor Environmental Quality and Innovation and Design. In addition to being LEED Gold certified, the Ashburn Data Center will be SAS 70 Type II certified as of October, 2009, and has infrastructure topology consistent with the Concurrently Maintainable criterion of the Uptime Institute's Tier III classification and performance standard. The data center offers enterprise customers the flexibility of integrating Managed Services and Colocation Services to meet the specific requirements of their solution.
