Gluster Appoints John Kreisa as VP of Marketing

SUNNYVALE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Gluster, the leading provider of scale-out, open source storage solutions for private and public clouds, today announced John Kreisa as the company’s new vice president of marketing. As a seasoned enterprise software marketing executive with an extensive background in the open source community, Kreisa brings more than 20 years of experience in building and leading teams in high-growth organizations like Cloudera, MarkLogic and Business Objects. Kreisa will be responsible for overseeing the company's overall marketing initiatives, corporate communications, direct marketing and open source community.

“Gluster continues to accelerate its commercial market growth and also has an extremely active community that is invaluable in terms of its insight and support. John is ideal for our team, as he combines a strong understanding of open source communities and big data with equally deep expertise in the commercial realm,” said Ben Golub, president and CEO of Gluster. “His involvement will be extremely valuable in helping Gluster further educate the market, expand our industry involvement, and help us successfully grow our business.”

Kreisa joins Gluster having previously worked at Cloudera, the leading provider of Hadoop-based software and services, where he was vice president of marketing. During his time there, Kreisa managed all corporate marketing activity including communications, social media and product marketing, and managed an aggressive community outreach program through user group sponsorship, community events and speaking activity. He also organized the company’s largest community-focused event, Hadoop World 2010, which doubled in attendance from the previous year. Prior to joining Cloudera, Kreisa worked at MarkLogic, an XML database provider, as director of product marketing and directory of industry solutions. Throughout his career, Kreisa has held various marketing roles at enterprise software companies including Verix, Inc., Business Objects and Autometric, Inc. He earned his bachelor of science degree in computer science from the University of Texas, Austin.

“This is a fantastic time to join Gluster as major market drivers including the explosion of data, the move to the cloud and the big data revolution are driving the need for a radically different approach to storage—one that Gluster is uniquely positioned to deliver. Add that to Gluster’s loyal open source community, and you’ve got an incredible opportunity to make a big impact on the industry,” said Kreisa. “I look forward to using my experience to expand Gluster’s presence and further develop its open source community.”
