Interxion Expands and Upgrades Dublin Data Centre

DUBLIN--(BUSINESS WIRE)--INTERXION HOLDING NV, (NYSE: INXN), a leading European provider of carrier-neutral colocation data centre services, today announced an expansion of its second Dublin data centre. The expansion, which will increase Interxion’s equipped space in Dublin by nearly 25%, will enable the company to continue to meet growing customer demand for colocation space and services, particularly from customers in the fast-growing digital media, gaming and cloud computing sectors.

The expansion project will also increase the available power supply by an additional 1 MW. This will address the current and future needs of companies running cloud-based applications or virtualised servers that require high-power-density deployments.

“This investment represents the third expansion in the Dublin market in the past eighteen months, more than tripling our equipped space over that period,” explained Tanya Duncan, Managing Director, Interxion Ireland. “With access to over 26 communication networks as well as the INEX Internet exchange, our Dublin facilities provide an ideal environment for customer infrastructure as cloud-based delivery becomes even more widespread.”

Interxion’s Dublin site offers high levels of redundancy, reliability and standards-based operation, with up to 2N on UPS power and N+1 cooling, as well as advanced alarm and monitoring systems. The data centre has been designed using Interxion’s energy-efficient modular architecture, with free cooling and maximum-efficiency components as standard.

The expansion project is expected to be completed in the fourth quarter of 2011.
