Shenick Launches First Per-Flow, Virtual Test Solution for Cloud Computing Environments

BURLINGAME, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Shenick Network Systems, provider of per-flow IP communication test and performance measurement solutions, today launched diversifEye™ Virtual Machine (VM), the first virtual, per-flow test solution for cloud computing environments. Virtualization-based service providers and network equipment manufacturers can now emulate and analyze real time IP traffic in cloud environments right down to each individual application flow, leading to highly granular issue identification and a quicker time to resolve problems. diversifEye VM provides a unique solution where all tests can be carried out in a completely virtualized mode. The end result is virtualized network performance that is better understood and more reliable with greater visibility of virtual IP networks.

Unlike other solutions, Shenick’s diversifEye VM gives network operators greater flexibility, scaling capabilities, easier software migration to virtual machine-based testing and the ability to pin-point errors across layers 2-7 on a highly granular basis. The new diversifEye VM solution can be used with existing diversifEye hardware giving Shenick customers an easy and cost-effective upgrade path to virtual testing platforms. It can be used in a completely virtualized mode utilizing a customer’s own existing hardware. It also provides a powerful per-flow emulation and real-time analysis in VM-to-VM scenarios, and hybrid, external-to-VM applications.

“The market trend towards cloud-based services places greater demand on the network infrastructure and has resulted in serious problems for network operators who need to assess the performance and capabilities of these virtual networks quickly,” said Kevin Glavin, CTO, Shenick. “So-called ‘Bit-blast’ testing is just not enough anymore. Service sophistication is migrating onto the virtualised environment. Services such as firewalling, load balancing and IDS/IPS are being deployed within the virtualization infrastructure so test tools are needed that can work within these environments without requiring physical test ports. Using diversifEye and diversifEye VM all these test scenarios can be covered. It also gives vendors an easy migration path, where they can use existing hardware with just a software upgrade to diversifEye VM.”
