Level 3 Expands Its Data Center Infrastructure in Colombia to Satisfy Customer Demand

BOGOTA, Colombia, March 18, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Level 3 Communications, Inc.  (NYSE: LVLT) today announced the construction of its newest data center in Bogota, Colombia, as a result of increased demand for IT services among its customers.

This new, 500 square-meter Premier Elite data center, designed to support managed services, will provide onsite technical staff, high levels of availability, enhanced security and high power density cabinets and suites. The new facility is expected to be operational by the second quarter of 2013.

"The Colombian market shows a growing demand for colocation, housing, hosting and value-added services," said Luis Carlos Guerrero , senior vice president for Level 3's Andean region. "The trend to outsource these services to a trusted business partner – one that will support the customer in its expansion strategy – is crucial for companies today so they can focus on their core business."

The new facility comes as part of Level 3's strategy to meet the burgeoning worldwide demand for data services by bringing additional capacity to its 14 existing data centers in Latin America and to its more than 350 data centers worldwide. All Level 3 data centers are located directly on Level 3's global backbone, reducing latency and costly metro access, providing on-net access to more than 55 countries, and offering the freedom to connect to alternative service providers.

The new Colombian data center offers a holistic solution so customers' businesses can continue to grow with the right amount of space and power and the services to meet their needs. The facility enables the hosting and managing of business critical enterprise information and technology platforms, helping customers to reduce operations, administration and maintenance expenses.
