SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Wyse Technology, the global leader in cloud client computing, today began shipping its innovative self-configuring client technology for the cloud and Wyse-enhanced Microsoft Windows Embedded virtual desktop environments. The solution is called Wyse Configuration Manager (WCM), previewed earlier this year as Wyse “Project Pyramid.” With the introduction of WCM, Wyse becomes one of the first company’s to offer automatic client management across all of its operating systems (Wyse Zero, Wyse ThinOS, Linux, and Windows Embedded).
Wyse Configuration Manager delivers unprecedented simplicity to the management of virtual desktops by allowing IT departments to auto-configure thin clients based on Wyse-enhanced Windows Embedded Standard 7. By automating the deployment of Windows Embedded Standard 7 thin clients throughout a private cloud, WCM offers multiple benefits to organizations.
For instance, WCM will help an organization lower their IT costs by creating one Windows Embedded Standard 7 image for an entire company. IT departments can often spend a significant amount of time in creating and deploying custom images to provide updated settings such as VDI connections (RDP, Citrix ICA, VMware View) and device settings for display, keyboard, localization and networks. With WCM every user can have a different configuration without IT having to re-image each and every endpoint.
"Being able to centrally and automatically deploy multiple thin client types, including those based on Microsoft’s new Windows Embedded Standard 7 platform, is one of the industry’s-first, and we are extremely proud to bring this product to market," according to Param Desai, Sr. Director, Product Management at Wyse Technology. "Whenever we can bring more simplicity to todays overworked and understaffed IT departments, then we know we've done our job properly."
With WCM, client devices are updated to the latest configuration automatically on startup or user logon. IT simply determines the desired configuration, and WCM automatically does the rest, with no imaging or re-booting required. WCM works with Microsoft write-filter technology, so it's fully secure. Users can be stationary, mobile, office or home-based.
"As desktop virtualization and thin clients continue to proliferate in businesses, the benefits of reduced management and better security are now augmented by ease of management through the introduction of products such as Wyse Configuration Manager," said Alexa Barron, senior product manager for Windows Embedded at Microsoft. "We’re pleased to work with Wyse and our partners globally to deliver Microsoft’s latest technology innovations through Windows Embedded Standard 7."
